This is my first attemtp at a HDR rendering, taken with my Fuji S7000, i know its a bit of a botched job, so i was wondering if anyone had any tips regarding how to properly take pictures (exposure differences etc) so i can successfully render them in HDR

thanks!

Your camera has an auto bracketing feature - look in the manual. That will allow you to take 3 photos in succession - each with different exposures (you'll need a tripod). Set it to take photos at +-2 stops to start with and then process the HDR as normal using the 3 images. Make sure you take the images in RAW format rather than jpeg too.

Check out the guide at:

sadly my camera doesnt permit auto bracketing in RAW, though im using a 512mb card, i guess an upgrade would change that, so i have to shoot 3 manual RAW shots with different exposures, thanks for the site btw, its a great help =)

As you will see on that site, the results you get from making HDR from 3 autobracketed jpegs isnt too different - so try it set in jpeg and see how you get on!

Take 3 jpg shots at exposures of -2, 0 +2 (or -1, 0 +1) stops, you don't need to take 3 RAW shots.

In Photomatix 3 you can do a pseudo HDR with just one RAW file which are reasonably OK.
