Just fitted my Virgin V6 box and it only has one outlet and that is HDMI, (i did know this) my previous box was very old and i used the coaxal out let to run the signal to other TVs in the house,the cable i have in place is well hidden so does not look a mess and was wondering if i used a HDMI splitter i could convert one of the outs to RF ? coaxal and keep using mu current set up.

Did your old box have an ethernet port?
It looks like you can link to older boxes with that (but I don't know if you'd need a crossover cable in lieu of a hub/switch).

It does have ethernet but i think Virgin switched it off, i dont realy need another box just would like to carry on extending the signal from my main box to a couple of other TVs in the house.

A quick search on ebay/amazon didn't turn up any hdmi>coax adapters that weren't silly money (doesn't mean they don't exist, just that a cursory search didn't find any). It just looks like you could put one box on top of the other, connect them together with a £2 cable, and stream the new boxes facilities through to the other tellies via the old box with no rewiring.

Wouldn't that require a wireless access point/switch (and a sky box, to decode) for every extra telly?
 
Essentially you're trying to get free multi room, i I can't see vm making this easy.

Hdmi doesnt really like being split, especially if your devices are expecting a valid hdcp signal. Expect to pay a reasonable amount for a device that works well. Then add on the cost of another box to change the signal to coax which im not even sure exists.

Only sort of, i set my old system up when virgin used to charge extra for second boxes, it would only show the same channel as was on the main TV so not really multi room.

Think i will stick with free view in the other rooms, that was my initial plan when ordering the V6 box but jusy thought i would ask.

Got a feeling this new box will only wi-fi to tablets and phones via a virgin app, not other TVs.
 
Depends what tv you want to transmit if it’s free view and Netflix /Amazon then WiFi is the way forward. If it’s the virgin system then it’s a subscription for extra rooms. Like sky or you use splitters. Depends what you want and what need
