I've been trying to fathom out, without success, why a camera bought from one 'grey - or greyish!) dealer can be covered by a Canon UK warranty whilst another cannot.
Each supplies a UK invoice, so can someone explain the difference.

Thanks,
Al

I just asked the same question on another thread!

Something to do with a UK receipt I believe

do they ? - how does a hong kong based company manage to give a uk sales receipt ? ( Kerso is based in scotland)

I'm not talking about Hong Kong based companies. HDEW are in UK too.

then you ought to be able to access a canon uk warranty with their sales receipt - ive never tried (though I have done with a kerso sourced lens)

I have registered my HDEW bought G12 on the Canon UK website. But is it set in stone that because it has been put there they would honour the warranty?

Before purchasing the camera I raised the question of warranty cover with Canon and they stated that it would not be covered. Seems
to me that they are as grey as those who sell the cameras.

Yep but they also issue uk vat invoice on request therefore they will be between other grey pricing and uk sourced pricing.

Just bought a lens from HDEW (fast service by the way) and had another warranty query. The lens was a 24-105 f/4l, but came in an anonymous white box. I was sort of expecting this, since I'd read that they split these lenses out of kits and sold lens and body separately (which is probably why they have such good deals on some stuff). Anyway, question is what is the position on this lens regarding warranty. You don't even get an international warranty card with it since it's only part of the original. How would Canon treat something like that? Not that it's going to stop me being happy with the purchase - just curious...

Best as them surely?

dont quote me 100% but i belive the warranty is with the seller which they then send to canon with a vat invoice but they must supply a vat invoice

im sure i saw it some where could be wrong though

why not kerso im sure he will be able to tell you

this warranty pa lava is far too complicated seems to me the manufactures make it deliberately complex you might as well ring BT customer service instead lol
I had an issue with my uk purchased made in korea 50"samsung TV
The curry's customer don't care service was horrendous the tv was 3 weeks old
7 weeks of constant calls and chasing up being put on hold etc etc
It did work when it eventually came back
Moral is is the uk warranty worth the effort
I bet had it been a camera from hdew panamoz or DR it would have been sorted in far less time
