Yes
I may have been born with some rather freakish strength but for all that's worth, f**k me- pollen- it totally f*cks me up. For the last 3 weeks- my eyes are red, sore, itchy, I sneeze constantly- and this is with the anti-histamines.

Yet another day with my nose streaming and eyes itchy beyond belief- feel great really:p

Bloody flowers:D

Anyone else afflicted by this tiresome genetic defect?

Of course, I appreciate if that's all that life throws at you, it's hardly reason to complain- but still, have you seen what flowers can do?

Currently beconase and loratadine- often take a couple of tablets instead of the one

I use telfast works for me
And steroid nose spray
The doctor said the injection us far from complete and a long process

I have had it that bad sometimes where i can only breath through my mouth

It can be very debilitating- irrespective of what people think- and usually these are the people that don't suffer it.

Not heard of telfast- shall investigate thanks. At this stage I need to do something above what I am doing as the impacts are fairly substantial for me.

Just another name for the usual ones but maybe a higher dose
Can't remember not had to use it this year (touch wood)

Have you been tested for what you're allegric to? For most people it's a surprising outcome and more targeted treatment can be found.

If you're suffering so badly so early my money would be on oak pollen.

I feel your pain....mine starts early in the year and never lets up.... i take FEXOFENADINE from the doctor (one a day tablet) i also have FLIXONASE drops for my nose. I use local honey where i can and local rape seed oil if i can get it not sure it helps but anything is worth ago. not had the injections allot of doctors now won't do them i am told not sure why mine said they were not that good and caused more problems but that is just what he said.
I agree with Ruth it is worth trying to find out what it is that sets you off but with the NHS that is easier said than done. you could try

The injections can be potentially fatal from what I've heard. Affects a minuscule percentage of people.

The same can be said of all drugs though.

Private testing is not a hugely expensive option.

I now use beconaise nasal spray and I find that that sorts it - stops my eyes itching too - but it can take a few days to kick in. Clarityn also works for me with opticrom eye drops, though they sting at first. I couldn't bear not to medicate!

Mine (tree pollen allergy) didn't start until I was in my 40s and I feel so sorry for all those people who suffered at school, especially when the medication wasn't so good. Utterly miserable!!

Have you tried your gp? Good luck finding a treatment that works for you.

I normally suffer when the birch are in full swing, which would normlly have happened by now... not that I'm complaining...

Kenalog is the one I had, one jab and sorted

I used to get hospitalised on a regular basis with my hayfever as well, not any more after having this

I'm currently on Avamys nasal spray and Levocetirizine tablets for my hayfever, I have to change meds every year or two as I become used to it and the effects wear off. I've had the injection and it set of another allergic reaction for me so I can't have it again. Although I'm on the meds I still have a totally blocked nose and itchy eyes but I'm used to that, I started with it at 13 years old (when I had to be hospitalized as I was so bad) and I'm now 48 and have put up with it every year since.

I had a course of injections many years ago and they worked very well.....did have a little operation to remove polyps which totally sorted out the hay fever......:)

Which really means hayfever wasn't your underlying problem :-)
Glad you're no longer sniffly.

Hay fever was the original issue but polyps can be secondary to an nasal allergy

Got ya.
Funnily enough I suffered rotten as a kid but "grew out of it".
The only allergy I seem to have hung on to is rabbits and guinea pigs.

Thanks all, some great pointers:). I feel for all of you who suffer as well- shared pain:hug:

I've only been to the doctors when I was young which is when I was given the nasal spray. It does seem to be more geared towards late spring/early summer then I'm ok-ish. Last year I was pretty lucky as it as still very cold in May/ early June so whatever it specifically is seemed to miss me as I don't recall being bad at all.
This year has been milder and I've already had a few separate days where it has been fairly debilitating so it was starting to grate slightly as you may have sensed:D.

Finding out what specifically triggers it is a good call though- often used to think it coincides with first few cuts of grass so could be something there.

I had one of the steroid slow release type injections in the early 80's, had one shot at the start of the season and kept the other shot in the fridge for six weeks until it was used.

Left me very ill and ended up in hospital, worked wonders for the hay fever, but caused havoc with the rest of my systems.

Believe that particular one was withdrawn after more than one person died, just happy to still be here to sneeze after that

I've had it since I was 11, but I only get it in the UK and not away on holiday. (Fingers crossed) I seem to be growing out of it and haven't suffered for a couple of years now. Changing medication every couple of years seemed to help too, the last stuff I was using was Sainsbury's own brand that is very cheap. Now I just carry a nasal spray in case I get any symptoms.
