does anyone else suffer? today Daughter comes home after being in town and the b****r has been spraying perfume or something like it. My allergies have got rather bad this year due to some medication i am taking (yes i know not strictly allergies). but today it feels like my nose eyes and head are going to explode.

any hints or tips?

Shower and change your clothes if you've come into contact with something today that has set you off.

As for hayfever, things like sleeping with the window closed and not drying your clothes outside can help.
 
Thank you yeah been doing that but it when the brat come in covered in perfume washed her stuff now will see how it goes.
 
Luckily my hayfever isn't too bad. On high pollen days I usually have 2 or 3 of the one-a-day tablets then it seem to keep it at bay :)
 
have taken 3 today and nose drops as well as my inhalers just taken some brufen to sty and ease the pain.. i'll rattle soon
 
My hayfever has been worse this year. Sneezing a great deal and horrible bunged up feeling. Vaseline around the nostrils can help reduce sneezing, also I found drinking plenty of water helped too. My best aid for a real bunged feeling is a good curry, clears me up quite well. To me antihistamines are a waste of time, the body gets to used to them and then they stop working.
 
Mine has been fairly bad this year and last, never had it much before.

I mean to ask doc if it's ok to take 2 the odd day :D I prefer loratadine (the stuff that is the cheap non-drowsy, like in supermarket's own) - I bought 6 months supply from an online pharmacy for 60p for 30 whereas they're about £1 for 7 in shops. Even with postage worked out cheap :)
 
I suffer from terrible hayfever and allergies and use Flixonase to eliminate the symptoms. It does has side effects but for me, especially when I worked as a countryside warden, the benefits are far greater. I could even spend weeks at a time cutting grass with no ill-effect.

I also use Flixonase along with cetirizine hydrochloride tablets from Aldi/Lidl. 14 tablets for about 80p which is reasonable. I only use the Flixonase at the worst times though as I find it gives me nose bleeds if I use it too much.

My doctor told me you should change the tablets you use every couple of years so your body doesn't get used to them.
 
I discovered that with more than about a week's use, the "Chlorphenamine Maleate" (allercalm) ones make me ill. Just read on it you can take up to 6 a day.. explains why the 1 a day seemed a bit naff.. :D

Mum mostly had it from the ages of 16-22ish, so I'm hoping I'll follow suite and mostly grow out of it :D
 
Try going to GP and getting the jab, i had that last year, and worked a treat, (still took tablets mind) going to get it done again next week.. well worth it
 
Simon i may talk to my GP about that your the second person who has mentioned it. thank you every one. it does seem allot of people are suffering that normally don't suffer also.
 
Try my Gran's remedy..

1 tablespoon of honey, and one tablespoon of cider vinegar in a mug, topped off water hot water. Drink!!

I was sceptical at first but having used this for over 20 years I swear by it, and it's 100% natural

Terri, let me know how you get on with it... the taste gets some getting used to, but once you do it's quite a refreshing drink (honest!!)
