Have you ever used flash for landscape photography?

I can't see why you wouldn't, fill light could bring out detail in an interesting foreground object.
Also could be useful evening out of exposure in some situations where you wanted to keep a sky under control

I used to always have my flash in my bag, but it got so little use I've stopped carrying it. When I did use it, I wasn't getting the results I wanted. Perhaps a bit of research might get me further! I seem to be doing more light painting now.

Yeah I have a few times, to lighten ground leaves in autumn and also for Fill in light on back-lit Stone-balancing work

I have been taking a local landscape class and have found an off camera flash quite useful. Two examples were to bring out some detail on a particular tree trunk in a shadowy woods shot and another for fill against the sun on a stone at avebury. Worth paying around with I say .

I think if used properly, like any flash ohotography, it can add to a scene. Its a balance between flash and natural light. I have used a flash shot straight up bounced off a cheap reflector before to add diffused light to foreground and it looked very natural. With 5 in 1 refectors u can experiment with colours to match the warmth of the sun.
