Joe,

whilst 2 lights are a good start, 3 are better - you want to be able to expand your system and therefore attachment fitting is important. To the best of my knowledge the Bowens fit has more 1st and 3rd party accesories available and you want lights that have a good colour balance throughout the power range. I personally use Bowens heads but these are about £300 per head however having looked at a number of the less expensive brands it is Lencarta that meet the fitting/quality requirement. £300 will buy this kit http://www.photomart.co.uk/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCatalogue=FLA0013 and the one thing that I would want to add is good light meter such as a Sekonic 308
