My domain name provider www.123-reg.co.uk offers several "instant" website templates for newbies... I was interested to see that they do a photo gallery template, but they don't have any sample screenshots :cuckoo:

Has anyone set up a photo gallery using a DIY template? Care to share the URL?

I'm a bit :geek: when it comes to website design (but hey, everyon'e got to start somewhere!) so any tips appreciated. It would make a cool alternative to flickr.com!

A.

hey! i created my site with weebly.com (address is in my sig) i really like it its so simple to use and has free web re directory so i bought the domain name and had my website hosted for under a tenner! freewebs have a good photography template but you're stuck with the .freewebs.com thing.

avoid 123 reg like the plague! There are far better hosts for the same or less money

mattyh - When I clicked on your Website, I got the address "http://"http//www.hawkins-photography.co.uk" in my browser and got a "Page not found"....

That's because he messed up his URL. ;) You need to clear the "www."http.com//" bit.

I did realise that Fruitcake, oops FruitFlakes , it was for mattyh's benefit to fix it..........

I use www.siteground.com for my hosts, 750GB - yes GIG - webspace and 7.5TB - yes TERA - bandwidth per month all for about £3.50 per month (pay a year in advance - even cheaper if you do 2 years).

I'm currently setting up my photo albums using Coppermine which is available on siteground.

That's a very generous offer from Siteground I must admit Parish for the price

Yep. They were recommended by a mate who has been with them for years and has about 8GB of photos alone hosted. He's never had any problems which was what made me switch.

If your current site host uses CPanel to administer it (or another system, IIRC but I can't remember what) then Siteground will migrate your site lock, stock, and barrel for free but you have to choose that option when you sign up or it'll cost. It took a couple of hours and once they've done it you just need to update the DNS records for your domain to point to their nameservers and everything just carries on working as if nothing had happened - e-mail, the lot.

Thanks for all that info Parish. Much appreciated.

Darn, I signed up with them a week ago. It's just the domain name I have from them though (hang on, I havn't actually bought anything yet, lol) and my friend is hosting it. Maybe it'll be OK?
