using a slide duplicator on DSLR?

I've got a load of family pictures on slide that I'd like to digitise. Scanning them is such a ball ache that I was thinking of buying a slide duplicator and T-mount and just using the camera.

Has anyone tried this? Do you have difficulty getting the entire image because of the crop factor?

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

I have tried it- and it works, up to a point. As you say crop factor is the big problem if want the whole 35mm image. Nothing will beat a good slide scanner- but as you say it's a pain in the @rs*

Thanks for that Jock. That was what I assumed, it's good to have confirmation.

I guess there's nothing else for it, I'll have to buy a FF Dslr

I've copied slides for a friend using the camera quite successfully, I do have a flatbed scanner that can scan negs up to 6x9cm but it's badly let down by the software, results are very inconsistant.
