As per title I'm looking for the good/bad and pros/cons of both as looking to change to one of them. Having a test drive next week but would be helpful for a bit of info what to look out for.
I've seen the Claimed mpg for the Touareg but is it realistic or am I likely to be needing a tanker to follow me!

I don't know. The Touareg is quite popular in SA, but fuel is cheaper than in the UK - that's partly down to comparisons based on the exchange rate - and a lot of people who drive these vehicles are probably on good salaries and/or some sort of company allowance.

Try here: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/. The figures are based on input from users, not the EU mandated tests the manufacturers quote. There can be significant differences.

Thanks Martyn...I'll have a read of that now

I have a Tiguan, bought new in 2009 (59 plate). 2.0D SE 2 wheel drive, as it was out the showroom it came with parking sensors which are great and the pano sunroof - nice but would not pay for (got a good deal as it was showroom car). Wife loves it - prefers it to previous Audi A4 Cabrio and BMW Z4, different beast I know.

It is a brilliant family car. Not too big on the road but spacious inside. Very comfy to drive and nippy when it needs to be. MPG is very good, if driving at 60 on motorways will easily get 50-55, more normally around 43-47 when driven briskly (not thrashed) at 70-75. A full tank will be £90 and you will get 600-700 miles out of it. A lot depends on what you are comparing it too, it will obviously not handle like my Z4 did, but is still reasonably car like.

Only negatives... tyres are £150 a pop, and the compressor went on the air con at 3.5 years which was £1200 or so to fix, although the dealer did this for £250 as it was just out of warranty.

If you want to know anything specific, let me know.
