ok so I am slowly realising that eating marmite sarnies and handling negs at the same time is not good, so i need to improve my handling techniques and are cotton gloves the answer?

Yep!......so long as you heep em away from your butties :D

Maybe the plastic gloves given out in garages, might be useful ?

So far I've managed without gloves, and only put a fingerprint on a very few out of thousands of frames. Usually when I fumble things and drop them. If you handle at the sporcrkt holes when pulling out of the sleeve, and grip across the edges of the film at other times, it seems to work OK. The only other isue is getting the negs into and out of the scanner holder thingy. If they are flat, they are easy to get in but more tricky to get out; I push them sideways up against the end until the negs bow upwards, then grip as before. Sometimes I lift up an end with a pair of tweezers (lift rather than grip).

Curly ones, I don't have a good technique for getting them into the holder. Usually ends up with trying to hold down the right hand end with the back end of the tweezers... or my finger when I'm taking risks, and trying to pinch the left hand end in place with the top part of the holder! Maybe gloves would help there... but you'd be forever taking them off and putting them back on again. Don't think I'll bother.

Brian, those plastic ones might have a static problem? Have you tried them?

Chris its pretty much the line up in the scanner holder that casues me to fumble as its a bit fiddly. When I am scanning though I usually do a strip at a time in batch mode so its not to much of a hassle with gloves and to be honest I would rather get a good routine, anyone got a brand they use?
