Half a line in view finder

Just noticed when in m, a, p, s etc I get half a line on the view finder
So if the focus point in the centre the line runs from there down to 6 o clock direction

I've never noticed this before!

Not on all modes, just some

I'll stick on a different lens as using 18-200 and check

I've had the same in all my nikon bodies. Pretty sure its normal.

Had a quick google, and just what you said although not checked the manual to understand

My D50 has a thin line going up to the centre forcus point. It's the LCD segement heading to the power.

Won't be there in scene modes as your AF point selection is in automatic is it not? If so no displayed AF point, no line.
