Hi

I have purchased a Hahnel combi tf wireless flash trigger, it seems to work pretty well on my camera (canon d600) except that it doesn't seem to work when I switch to liveview mode. Does anyone have any idea why this might be? I can get round it by composing the picture in liveview and then switching liveview off before taking the picture but would be nice to get it working.

Cheers

I'm not familiar with the D600 as I have a 40D but I seem to remember having a similar problem. If memory serves me well, in 'Live view function settings' the flash will not fire in Mode 1 or 2. I think you have to select 'disable' HTH

Cool thanks

From a quick inspection not sure my model enables me to change the settings, all I can see for Live View settings is enable and disable.

I will have a read of the manual and see if that sheds any light, although a quick search on the net suggests I am not the only one experiencing this issue.

John it looks like you are correct, the live view needs to be set to Silent Shooting Mode for this to work, and it looks like my camera does not have this functionality (a feature of the higher end canons from what I can see).

Can anyone confirm whether the 600D has this setting?

The 550d doesn't fire the flash either. The only workaround I've found is;

Set excposure in manual mode
Switch to AV and set widest apperture available (so you can actually see)
Turn on live view
Focus and compose
Switch off live view
Back to manual
Take shot

You might not have to switch to AV if you can turn off 'exposure simulation', you can't on the 550d.
