I had a few work trips to Scotland recently and enjoyed some haggis there with a lovely whisky sauce in one restaurant. I live in Bristol and want to try cooking some haggis myself. I can find haggis in most of the supermarkets but just cannot find any kind of sauce to go with it.

Apparently the big supermarkets sell macsweens whisky cream cooking sauce but I have been unable to find this in either Sainsbury's, tescos or Waitrose. Not sure if it'll be in the refrigerated ailse or frozen though. No staff have been able to find it either.

Can anyone suggest a sauce to go with haggis or shall I try making my own?

I couldn't tell you where to get it but it's easy to make and there's lots of whisky left over for

500ml/17fl oz double cream
  • 2 tsp wholegrain mustard
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 to 3 tsp whisky
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives optional
  • ½ lemon juice only

Okey dokey. Think I'll have a go at making my own. Thanks guys. Those ingredients look like those from the hairy bikers recipe on BBC. Think I'll follow that one. Wish me luck!

I can definitely recommend their recipe.
