Aaargh.. My first ever gymnastics tommorow.. any tips anyone?

I am OK on indoor sports photogrpahy and all that side ..Its anyhting particular to gymnastics I should look for.. Its a schools event BTW..
 
Warm up properly first, and make sure the leotard isn't too tight :lol:

When my kids were doing gymnastics years ago, the more experienced girls liked pictures when they were at full stretch/extention or off the ground....but thats about as much as I know :shrug:
 
its short notice anyways.. its 4pm today (tuesday) schools final comp.. good for me with over 40 sports under my belt to be given one I havent done before :)

me in a leotard you must be joking.. its months since I last wore mine :)
 
I found that gymnastic events have very cluttered backgrounds, This will obviously be minimised as you will be shooting wide open.

Focus assist points a definite, especially with the tumbling routines. I missed my 135mm f2 when I was shooting the last one.

I might dust my 135mm off.. I ahve hardly used it since I got the mkII 70-200 .. But can't bare to part wiht it :)

what a load of rubish.. I was told schools gymnastics and given the venue... 4-6pm ..

get there and its 8 yr olds...... still a job, still get paid, still get published... but not gymnastics as you would think... oh hum :)
 
Oh dear - at least the pay is the good thing.

Look on the bright side- you got to the right location and the job was sorted!

I've just seen a photographer complaining that he got sent to the Isle of White Wight* for a shoot, when it was on the Channel Islands!! :lol:



*Grrr iPad typo!

I ahve done wrong places but not that bad!!! :) ... was a couple of miles out for a st georges day thing this yr... I realised and got there late but in time to get what was needed.. I was honest with the picture editor and told him what happened... he just laughed and told me I was talkign to someone who sat at a rugby ground for an hr wondering why the footy hadnt started :)

Blimey! I didn't know there were 40 sports, even if you count beach volleyball and golf.

A few seasons ago while working at the Reebok a guy comes in and hands his ticket over I check in and it wasnt quite right, correct stand and turnstile block but wrong stadium he should have been up the road in wigan.
