Yes
When I pulled along side and pointed out the lights were still at red, they weren't interested. They were then more interested in in pointing out to me that the lights had changed to green.
The guy then did it again at a crossing.....

Cant decide who is more stupid, the driver or the police? Although maybe he knew the ineptness!!

I would send this in as a complaint to the police. If anything, why would you drive over a red with police next to you if you had nothing to hide?? Plate is visible on the cop car, they should investigate.

Very strange, perhaps busy on something else.
Looks like the driver is one of those who watches the other lights then goes early before own lights change

Probably lunch time.

There might have been a reason why they didn't intervene - but all the same it doesn't look good. I would definitely lodge a complaint with the force involved so that an investigation could take place as to why they did it. There might be a good explanation. There might not be. At this stage it's all guesswork.

Driver in Ayr drives through a red light. The police in the car sitting next to him weren't interested.
Unless they had him clearly on their dash-cam and had no need to talk to him right then.

What do you expect, BMW driver :)

Are you supposed to stop for red ?

Not if you have a red-light exemption badge on the back.
Or posh-people-flashers for partking on yellow lines.

Yellow lines and red lights are for poor people.

There may be a reason they didn't intervene, but I would still definitely lodge a complaint so it can be followed up

Could be a good way to get yourself marked down for "special attention"

Hopefully both sets of lights had 'red light cameras' that were working :)

That way he would be done for going through 2 sets of lights - a nice fine and perhaps a time when he would be unable to drive ? :D

That would be better than a wee discussion with a couple of traffic cops

I doubt that the car contains traffic cops. There are very, very few dedicated traffic officers left - there are just 21 covering the whole of Devon and Cornwall which means that at any one time, there are probably 3 or fewer cars on the road (based on a 3 shift system, 2 officers per car).

In this country all speed limits seem to be optional so why not camerase or give ways or stop signs?
that is the way I see it now in this country.

This county? Name me one where everyone abides by the rules then? Human nature is that we do not stick to every rule out there and I don't know of a single place that has achieved that.

Offcource they had to ignore him, they were in the right turn lane :)

its not about that though is it, you cannot have a set of rules that is ok to break and some that are not?
In the UK we have a realy bad culture of speeding is OK but other traffic offences are not?

I caught some news about the EU's Mobility and Transport Department wanting to impose speed limiters in all new cars in the next couple of years. They will use the same technology as the current cars which can read speed limit signs.

Like parking, pair of wheels on the footpath? So who is to blame if you then step out on the road and get run over by a speeding car? :)

Just had this in my town, pensioner mowed down on a pedestrian crossing by a muppet in a volvo 4x4.

Very sad, but without all the facts its hard to see who was at fault, how many times have you seen pedestrians simply walk out onto crossings.

The UK has one of the safest road systems in the world, and the rules are not black and white, 30mph does not mean 30mph, its accepted as 35MPH, Have you never broke the speed limit ?

Back to the original OP, we have no idea what the circumstances were for A: the driver of the car, and B: the police there could be a number of mitigating circumstances.

UK 2.9 road deaths/100,000 inhabitants/year
US 10.9
Spain 3.7
France 5.1
Germany 4.3
Netherlands 3.4

There are very few countries that have lower fatalities on the roads than the UK.

Try living in Thailand with 36.2!

- lol - if you ever get pulled up for a speeding offence, i'd pay your fine to see you argue this point in front of the cops ;)

There would be no fine, ACPO guidelines state 10% plus 2miles per hour, they may have changed it in 2015 to remove the 10% would need to check, but the idea is the device the police are using to check your speed can be out by 2mph, and your speedo could be 10% but still the point is 30mph is not 30mph.
