Specsavers searches for Amazing Partnerships UK-wide
South Yorkshire MP David Blunkett is lending his support to the launch of a nationwide photography competition to find pictures that illustrate an amazing partnership.
The competition has been launched by Specsavers in partnership with Pentax Cameras, to raise awareness of Guide Dogs, Specsavers national charity partner, and the vital role it plays in matching guide dogs with their owners.
Guide Dogs supporter, David Blunkett MP, says: I've first-hand experience of how valuable each of my guide dogs has been. As an aid to mobility, as a support in providing independence and as a companion, they have provided for me the opportunity to work and live on equal terms with others...
To mark the launch of the competition Specsavers will be donating £1 for every eye examination to the charity between Monday 6 and Sunday 12 September. Funds raised will go towards Specsavers pledge of £250,000 to pay for the breeding and training costs of 25 guide dog pups. Staff at many of the 650 stores across the UK will be taking part with their own fundraising initiatives during Specsavers Guide Dogs fundraising week. Activities range from collecting donations, instore raffles, cake sales and visits from guide dogs.
