Grum's late starter 52 - Isolation

Bit rushed getting this together but here is my first effort...

Bit of an unimaginative attempt at the theme I suppose. I quite like the line of the path leading off vaguely into the distance.

welcome along Graham, i woudn't say it was unimaginative as it fits the theme really well, it could do with some thing to break up the foreground though, i don't know if you could have taken a different angle. I love the way the clouds seem to hang in this shot.

And I certainly wouldn't call your first shot unimaginative either,
I like it a lot. Lovely contrasty foreground, nice detail in the sky and the B&W conversion has worked perfectly to give it that desolate feel.

For me, the horizon is a little too central in the shot and I'd be tempted to crop some off the top (just above the cloud formation on the left) to draw your eye into the foreground more and bring the main focus on to that path. But it really is a very good shot and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the weeks to come.

I'm not so keen on the second version. I feel like the foreground is a little too dark and the cow/horse? on the horizon is a bit indistinct.
Definitely think that you picked the right one for your submission.

Hi Graham, welcome to the 52's. The first is very good and fits the theme, there's a real sense of isolation in the image. The second doesn't work as well, the cow is a little too indistinct and there's not enough light on the foreground.

Thanks very much for the feedback Sarah and John. I've tried a crop - also played with the vignette a little and added a tiny but of blue toning.
