I don't do macro or nature, but have noticed this past week that there are quite a few Grove snails climbing up a common plant (whose name I can't remember). I'm not sure if this is a mating thing or they're feeding on the dead plant, but it's the first time I've noticed this. While they are apparently widespread most places, they're less common in North Scotland for some reason. Any thoughts welcomed!

Are the dead plant stems holding moisture? Snails have to stay wet. I've seen snails do this but never really thought about why they do it. I'll take a closer look next time I see it.

Thanks. The weather has certainly been damp, but that means the grass below is wet as well.
