You know the scenario, you've got music in your collection that you think is great; but when you enthuse about the artist(s) to your friends you discover you're totally on your own and no one has heard of them!

For me, that would be Bent.

Can you think of an example?

Nash the Slash...

I got a lot of who are they? When I was going to see Elbow last year, which I found strange, the missus got it too.

Emily and the Woods. Hopefully she/they get a big breakthrough soon. Been a big fan for a few years hoping to hear more of her but she's been slow getting more attention. My favourite two songs are never play and steal his heart.

Going to see Frank Turner in November! :)

Me too, in Leeds. You will love it, he's great live.

Saw him last year at Night n Day cafe in Manchester, an audience of only 150 people.

I then saw him at the Apollo and had tickets for Wembley but came off my motorbike and dislocated my shoulder the Tuesday before so was in hospital and couldn't go

Sunhouse, a bit rough around the edges but some lovely stuff. They did one album as far as i know and I think they had a track which was on a Bob Hoskins film soundtrack.

For me, because of my age, a lot if friends have never heard of

Frank Zappa
Judie Tzuke
And recently I have got into

Awolnation

When I was still at school while lots of friends were into bros and whoever was around at the time I Was getting into Robert plant, lead zeplin, and early Claptonand Zappa. funny enough I was told I was strange for not liking the charts.

I think Frank Turner (fab!) and Frank Zappa are the only ones I have heard of from this thread.
i do like a listen to the Frazier Chorus, can't believe that is from 1989! Now I feel old

New model Army

The Wildhearts

Therapy?

Steve Reich - most people give blank looks when I tell them what sort of music he composes as well
Tangerine Dream
Redshift
Richard Thompson
Sandy Denny
Clive Gregson & Christine Collister
The Enid (some people might have heard of them)

I could go on ...

Being of a certain age quite a few bands I mention get blank looks

Stray and Krokus being two for starters, even the superb Wishbone Ash gets the same treatment from some people

I am a massive, huge, enormous, Tears for Fears fan, and the amount of people that haven't heard of them (or tut and turn away when I mention them) is both bizarre and annoying, as they made (in my opinion) some of the most technically interesting music ever.

In all seriousness though most of the music I listen has people showing blank expressions and going "huh?", a prime example being Elfin Saddle... how many people here have heard of them?!

How about...

The Nightwatchman
Fu Manchu

..no-one I know seems to have heard of the above, which makes them unheard of in my circles.
