Hello!

About 2-3 years ago, I picked up a uk newspaper with one of those 'Mini-Guide to Photography' booklets. It was from the Guardian (Oct 07).

Of course these things can be pretty variable in their usefulness - but still thought to hang on to this, to read it at some stage.

When I finally(!) got around to reading it, it recommended talkphotography as a good forum for photography, so thought to check it out.

It seems to be a wide-ranging and popular forum! It has been fun to dig around the various sub-sections. I am glad to have been pointed in the direction of here, because I had been pondering about trying to find a good photography message board for a little while now.

I am one of those Canon dslr users - EOS30, but am thinking of upgrading. I also love film photography, and have been getting back into using that. Also an Applemac user. Probably not the strongest technically, so am looking very much to learn more on that front.

I look forward to reading more here and hopefully posting more too. :)

I'm sure this forum will live up to your expectations......and more:thumbs:

Thankyou!! :D

I wanted to make a couple of posts about the following:

- photography exhibitions;
- studying photography.

When navigating the forum, there didn't seem to be anything that immediately leapt out as the appropriate place to post these - or maybe I was looking in the wrong places?

If anyone could please advise then that would be much appreciated. :)

welcome . an ex film movie maker by any chance ??

A good pickup there - I am kind of involved in film, but not the film-making side.

I do like Super 8 a lot though! I know a few folk who are more specialised in that field and a lot of the stuff that they do is great.

Super 8 also happens to be a cheap-as-chips motel chain in the USA! That hadn't occurred to me until after I had registered..

enjoy the forums

hi and welcome
not often someone comes in with film as a likeable medium
a lot of us have used it but found digital has a certain edge which pulls us away from film comparisons
good luck with the photography
