Yes
What is your greatest achievement to date and why are you proud of it?

I have a few things I can think of that I am proud of, but my greatest achievement has to be my tandem skydive I did a few years back. I surprised myself at how calm and relaxed I was, and the feeling was so exhilarating, like floating on a huge cushion of air. Nothing has surpassed that feeling to date. I also raised money for the midwifery unit where I worked at the time, so it was a double bonus :D

Can't say Ive ever achieved a lot........but last year getting accepted into the Guild of Essex Craftsmen with my nature photography and being judged and given 3 "YES" cards, one from each judge... was probably my best acheivement.

I can now display my work at certain craft fairs through the year which sometimes only Guild Members are invited.

There are only about 3 other photographers in the Guild out of a total of about 200 members.

Also, having 2 healthy lanky teenage boys around the house is a bit of an achievement after having lost one baby son, and been confined to hospital for 2 months waiting for each of these two to arrive.

Did it!!!!!!!!

Well, I was on 'Watch with Mother' way back in the early '60's..
I also made a centre spread (wait for it girls.....) in Dental Weekly when I had 17 caps and crowns done at the same time (after an accident, not just for the fun of it..)
I had a front page picture in the 'Oxford Mail' when I saw a police car on fire..
I managed to get myself off drugs (see my avatar for some idea of how |I looked as a 16 year old) when many of my friends died..
And most of all, I got me 2 girls, aged 8 and 3, who seem to think I am a good dad..

I learnt to tie my own shoe laces last week, no more getting my cardy stuck to those pesky velcro straps and having to wait for 2 hours for someone to rescue me.

My greatest achievment told everyone afterwards that she was drunk! :(

My greatest acheavment was getting in the England shooting team in 1983/84/85..:)

Ranked No. 3 in Britain in the sport of Downriver Racing
British team champions (3 man team event )
Welsh Open Champion
British Team Member
Winning Lofer International Down River Race (Austria )
All back in the late 70's early 80's

I saved a mans life.

Used to work as a life guard and bloke had a heart attack in the pool. Gave him mouth to mouth and cardiac massage, was just set to go with the defibrillator when luckily the men in green arrived!
Was on the radio and papers and everything... Bloke survived but never even sent me a thankyou card... (Prob coz I think I broke his ribs!!! )

I saved a man from drowning while on holiday in Majorca the other year.

Pratt jumped into the deep end of the pool thinking it was the shallow end.

Kept on thanking me throughout the holiday. Could not get rid of him!

As "minimeeze" would have to be my tandem skydive, it is truly incredible, my only problem is I now have the hunger to do it more and more and it aint particularly cheap :)

massive bump up, but i think its a good thread so ill let you off ;)

My greatest achievement would have to be getting into Northumbria Uni to do Business with Marketing. Especially as a few teachers in my previous schools never thought i would make anything of myself (nice, werent they..)

Old thread but good un!

Hmm think mine would be more general in my life. To cut a very long story short, I developed epilepsy when I was 14 and due to a the huge misunderstanding of the illness and the ridiculous amounts of drugs the doctors gave me I think everyone thought that was it for me (I was even asked to consider not going back to high school).

Anyhoo struggled through high school and left with a reasonable 4 highers, got a good job then gave it up and went travelling for a year by myself and I am now back in education and delving deep into photography. While doing this kept myself healthy and have managed to be seizure free for 5 years!

I think that overall is my greatest achievment......until I win my Noble Peace Prize that is :naughty:

Vicky.

I'm thinking of doing some travelling by myself, what was it like? I'd most likely do a road trip through Europe than around the world though.

Its amazing, I thoroughly reccomend it to everyone, its a great experience. I travelled in Greece and then very randomly got a job in les deux alpes in France, great banter mind you and I made some really great friends.

Cheers, I'm not planning to do it for a few years (Lack of money/Maybe starting an Apprenticeship soon, so get through that) but it's something I feel I want to do, and if I do it by myself I can do what I want and not what others (Such as Snowboarding, going to Chernobyl etc). So get some money together, then get myself a campervan or something similar and set that up to suit me.

Passing my Open Water and Advanced Open Water Scuba qualifications. not bad for someone who was never allowed in the public baths due to chronic psoriasis and had to learn to swim in the local canal.

Not bad at all...now get out there and do you wreck, deep and EANx courses, well worht it!

For me, aside from my SCUBA quals like Gary, I think my biggest is probably passing my ATCL recital, lots of hard work, but it did eventually pay off, and I passed with 86%

Well as my Mum is a vegan, and forced my dad to be nearly one too, I have been a vegan since I was about 2 - and I'm now 18. Never a Mac, nothing. Though...while on holl in august with my friend this yr...I had chips in the car :D....No doubt will just be a veggie soon. Not an achievement really...I guess education wise I got the highest possible award in English a few yrs ago(home educated :(

Passing off of the square at the Army Training Regiment Winchester was a huge personal achievement for me, and not something I'd ever thought I could do.
