Are there specific graphics cards that are better for working with photoshop or is it just a case of one with a DVI out on it and loads and loads of memory :)

Nothing specific for Photoshop/Lightroom - just something current. Minimum is 256MBytes. See: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404898.html for what is accelerated.

The summary is it is far more useful to have lots of memory and a fast processor.
