Graham Taylor RIP

He always seemed genuine and a nice chap when I saw him interviewed, and listening to the people who knew and worked with him today, it sounds like I had the right impression.

Watford would not have had the history they have had without the influence of Graham Taylor and Elton John. I don't think I realised what he achieved at Watford with being so young at the time. He took them from the 4th Division to the 1st Division in five years, and then they were 1st Division runners-up in 1983, and FA Cup finalists in 1983. RIP.

Someone on the radio this evening said that no manager was ever so praised for his club work and villified for his country management.

The Sun and their "turnip" comments really had a negative impact on him personally.
