I really know bow diddly about this so keep any answers simps :D Ok a mate of mine purchased a video grabber from Lidle`s the other day as he wanted some old Aikido tapes of his backed up onto DVD. It uses the Power Director software. I did one tape the other night which all went well and burnt it with no probs. Now having done tape 2 I have ended up with a 12.97gig file as the tape was over 3 hours long. Is it possible to covert it so the file ends up small enough for a 4.7gig dvd, or will I have to start again and record the tape into three different parts. Any help would be great thanks.

You can compress the file no problem. VHS is only 240 lines and I'm guessing the video grabber is saving the files as 480 lines so just use something like Windows Movie Maker to shrink it down a bit.

Mpeg Streamclip would also be able to reduce the files for you if you dont want to use Movie Maker

Thanks Sam

Cheers, got it sorted now as I found a small clicky button on the grabber software which when enabled does a smart fit before burning the file
