I've often thought it would be great to have GPS info tied to my shots - holiday ones in particular. Click a button and google earth takes you to the spot type of thing. Even if you don't remember where you were for the shot the picture would.

Mind you I'd want it to be a very cheap add on before I'd consider it and it would probably have to be internal.

Its specially designed for SieJones to that he can get all his kit into a shoe box and still climb K2 in just his wellies :D

So you know where you were when you took a photo! I'm not sure, but I heard a while back of sites like Flickr hoping to use GPS data to build up a map of photographs - perhaps pulling it from the EXIF data, who knows.

In some instances, I think it'd be really handy to know exactly where someone was standing to take a shot.
On the other hand, I'm not sure I'd want people knowing exactly where I took that photo of a really expensive car...!

Hi, I do use GPS with both my D2Xs bodies and find it very useful,
I work as a marine photographer and when shooting an offshore race having the GPS linked helps identify the location of incidents, man overboard etc.
I appreciate the use is pretty limited but it is interesting to see where you have been and how much ground you have covered when you upload the position data.

Lightroom can also sort/filter photos using Longitude and Latitude Co-ordinates from EXIF / Metadata info. GPS is required to enable this feature :)

Flickr already has this started, I think the location currently has to be tagged manually. However, I don't use flickr, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmmm. Law enforcement/ surveillance users will be all over it if it can prove the location of shots.

digital photographer had a news article about a camera with built in GPS or some such, at the time i thought "what a pointless idea" but after reading robertP's post i guess it would be a very good idea

Geotagging on Flickr is manual, but very cool.

Zoom round the map, see where photos have been taken, take a gander at the photos adn if you like the location, go and take some yourself.

A new source of inspiration! I've found a few places nearby that I'd never even heard of, let alone visited and got some nice shots.

Hey look it's gorra be matchbox size and if I can't do it walking backwards blindfolded then it just ain't good enough! :D

I find the gps option very useful when shooting at some of the events i do as some parts of the game sites look identical and also with the ammount of photos i cant take in a day.
