Yes
Got some prints done at jessops, and i'm not very happy with them :( Just wanted to know whether it's usual to have prints come back more saturated and redder etc??

Has anybody had problems with them before? The originals aren't very saturated, but they've come out yellow / orange / red!

They've also cut the top of the babies head off...

What would you do?

Thats terrible.
Get a refund and get them printed elsewhere.

Yes i have to admit they are a bit on the red side anyway... but their rendition is horrendous

Your originals are kind of orangey and could do with a white balance tweak (Actually, it's not so much of a WB tweak as simply desaturating the reds/oranges/yellows a bit. You don't really want to be adding blue to these.), but usually a print shop will sort that kind of thing out for you (whether you like it or not). On this occasion I can't imagine what they were thinking, but it has little to do with photographic printing.

As for the chopped off baby's head, your original is in a pixel ratio of 5:4 (500:403 to be precise) and you do have a very tight crop already. If you want it printed on 10x8 paper it would be a perfect fit, but 7x5 or 6x4 prints will simply not work. You might be given the choice to have white space at the sides of the prints or they will crop to fit the paper size. I think the default is to crop to fit. You either need to recrop your original, with your print size/dimensions/ratio in mind, or find a print shop that will print white space rather than cropping.

I quite often use Jessops for enlargements and have never had any problems with them.
Looks like they've had some serious trouble with these though.
I'd ask for a refund too.

If these were printed in store, then take them back and they should reprint them FOC, if it's via their Snapfish website, again take them to the store instead where they have more control over the printing.

Had the prints redone now, i'm not one to bad mouth people, but I won't be using them again.

And there's just a blob of colour on the ladies chest... Looks like she's been in tan-tasic for 6 hours.

Oh well, got them changed for free.

try boots plus they are cheaper i also use 7dayshop for for larger prints and the postage is still only 99p

As you have image editing permitted I had a little play with one of your photos in Lightroom. Here's a screen print of the before and after....

and here's a slightly better version of the resulting photo (not a screen print)....

I don't know whether you feel it's an improvement, but if you do, it might be worth trying to tweak the colours and saturation levels before sending off for print. It would probably give the lab something easier to work with.

EDIT : When I reviewed the edits I performed above I realised I had ended up with desaturation of colours pretty much across the spectrum, except in the middle. So I tried another edit, starting from scratch and just desaturating the whole photo (saturation = -33 in Lightroom), without individually adjusting each colour. The resulting image looked reasonably good, colourwise, but a little dull, so I bumped up brightness a tad (brightness = +11). This seems a much simpler edit, that could easily be performed in any photo editing software (not Picasa :'( ). The result differs a little from my first effort, but is pretty close in terms of appeal. Here's the easy edit version....

I haven't given it more than a 10 second test drive, but maybe https://www.photoshop.com/express/landing.html would be a good option. It claims integration with Flickr and may be a good way to edit photos online. I don't know what your options are once you've edited them online, in terms of printing etc..

I think you may need your monitor calibrating.

The originals you've posted look very very red on my screen. tdodd's edits look spot on.

If you don't have any software, Picasa is free and could probably do what you need it to.

Must admit I haven't used a high street shop in years and years. Do my own printing now.
