Got a letter in the post today, i've been offered an interview for the NCTJ course in Photojournalism! Yay!

Gotta take the train up to Sheffield next week to go, looking foward to it.

Also ordered a portfolio binder to present my work in. Got a hand-made leather one from silverprint.co.uk, can't wait for it to arrive.

Cool did you get a place then mho?

Gotta get a portfolio tomorrow before work though, I had ordered one of those hand-made leather ones from silverprint but they rang me today and said they were out of stock.

Fortunately there's a London Graphics Center down the road from me so i'l get one there (they stock the same ones, hopefully they will have one at my local store). If not then i'l have to go to Paperchase after work as a last resort.
 
Went to the interview today and was offered a place streight away! Yay!

I got one of the last spaces, plus there's apparently 22 people on the waiting list.

Looks like an awesome course, they even have tons of Nikon kit for us to borrow (if only it was Canon though, bit of a bummer, might give some Nikon kit a go though!).

Exam was a bit harder than I expected, but the course leader offered me a place regardless of how well I did in the exam. He took one look at my portfolio, asked me a few questions (like why I wanted to do the course etc) and then offered me the place! Interview only took 10 mins, I was only in the college for about an hour (took me 4 hours each way to drive from London lol).

Should see a few of you in September!

portfolio must have been pretty impressive then!
but that's what counts - the pictures not the paperwork! :clap:
 
Yeah exactly. Written stuff is kinda important though, as i'm doing the photojournalism one not the press photography one (its the same course but you spend an extra hour a week with an actual journalist learning to write captions and other stuff).

As I expected he had a really quick look (anyone who knows what to look for will do it within a minuate or so).

Gave me some good feedback aswel :D

I'm on a Degree Course in commercial Photography there.
I was going to do the NCJT course last year but decided to do Medium format studio photography instead, as the press course would mean I have to stop my current work to do it as its 4-5 days a week. I'm thinking about doing the Press Photography one after I finish the Degree.

Congratulations on getting on the course.
 
Nice one mate, offered me a place in the interview too! Your portfolio looked pretty good, i told the guy i had ballsed up the spelling thing but he said not to worry about it!

All my stuff is currently nikon so im looking forward to using all the lenses and that, also they had some cool medium format gear i'm looking forward to getting my hands on!

Yeah wanna try out some medium format stuff, will probably give some of the Nikon kit a good old test aswel.

Are you on the press photography or photojournalism one russ?
 
Photojournalism so i guess we'll be in alot of the same classes, looking forward to starting now. Going to be wierd looking forward to going to lectures rather than loathing them!
 
Yeah i'm really excited for it.

The photojournalism and press photography ones are the same, the photojournalism one just has extra time with the journalist doing caption righting etc... 1 hour extra per week I think.
