Well, I bought the 5D today. Lovely, so very lovely. A camera fans camera, Lovely shape, feel and grip. Old skool if you will.

Decided to treat myself (again) as been working hard and made some money from Silverstone stock shots and some recent corporate stuff and some portraits + continually working hard in the real world, unlike that Neo fella.

I look at the 5D as a tool that will improve my portrait stuff, which a love.

Anyway, sorry for sounding down on here the other day, I made an informed decision to come off anti depressants two weeks ago and it hit me but doing OK. Never easy, but thats life when you are a mentaller :D

All advice taken onboard with reference to press stuff too, thanks all.

Huge congrats on your new camera! I've had my 5D since release and I have loved every minute with it. There is something just 'so right' about this camera.
Wonderful shot by the way. Do you mind me asking which focal length this was at?
 
Congrats on your purchase, Ive decided that at my honest skill level (very very low) I cannot justify the price of a 1dsmkII, so im going to be getting a 5D soon, with the money saved Im thinking about getting some kind of professional help. I know photography skills arent something you can learn, as such, but I want to try and get the best out of my kit.

Thanks Dreeder. The 5D is great value, discrete and camera like imo and will compliment your collection in a big way.

You can learn photography mat and you know what, the best way is to get out there and shoot.

excellent shot Pete, im sure you dont need to be told but if you want to spout of to someone totally random im always on msn.
 
You've made the right choice imo. I had a 5D and made the big mistake of selling it (a few money problems). Anyway saving hard to get another one. Not sure if I should buy it with the kit lens, as it would save a bit of money compared to buying them separate. Hope you'll be very happy with it.

Hi Pete, have you had your £200 cash back for your 5D yet, and if so how long did it take. I'm only asking because I'm still waiting for my cheque, although it's only been about a fortnight since they've received my application.

Thanks for the info. I send my application by recorded delivery, and according to the post office it reached them on the 22/9. That's ten days ago so I guess it's early days yet.
 
I tried a 5D today in Jessops and it's just amazing, i'm seriously thinking of getting one by the end of the week!!
I may pop in again and try my 24-70 on it tomorrow :p

Yes that's still a bit early. Mine too about 16 days which was pretty speedy I thought as the website said it was taking about 28 days.

If your thinking of getting one, don't forget the £200 cash back expirers at the end of October.

Don't want to panic you, but I thought you would of had yours by now. You had your 5D before me. Or didn't you send for the cash back strait away?

Ash, I totally forgot about the cash back deal and packed all my invoices away until this thread reminded me. Sent it off about two weeks ago.

Mine took 18 days from posting, so you shouldn't be waiting much longer.
