Got my Kit, advice needed

My first concern is how are you going to trigger the lights?
I don't believe that your camera has a synch socket - and even if it does, these older model Elinchrom flasheads have their unique synch connection at the head end, which is notoriously unreliable.

So, my first advice would be to get a radio trigger. You'll need to get an Elinchrom 'tail' which converts their fitting to the standard audio plug fitting, and I think you need an adapter for your camera too, to convert the Sony hotshoe to the standard ISO hotshoe.

Once you've got it working you can learn a lot by experimenting, but you may find these tutorials on the Lencarta website helpful

The A200 does not have a sync socket, since it was intended as an entry level camera. Something like

will provide a conventional hotshoe and from the picture it appears a sync socket as well (I have something similar which my Minolta 7000 film SLR needed to trigger studio flashes, came from Jessops about 10 years ago).

The ebay auction the OP linked to says that an Elinchrom camera sync lead is included, so wouldn't that be enough to trigger them with the hotshoe adapter? My (cheapo basic D-lite 2) Elinchrom lights all fire if one is triggered, as they all have sensors on the back.

Yes it will, but the point I was trying to make in my first reply is that the OP has bought 2 lights fitted with the 'Elinchrom special' synch sockets. In the past I've had 3 generator packs with these sockets and none of them worked reliably. Because of this I suggested that the OP get a tail that converts them to the standard 3.5mm jack socket and plug a radio trigger into the tail, the Elinchrom fitting is more reliable if there's no movement of a wire.

Hi there again, not had time to reply untill now as been real busy!

I have an Olympus camera also that i use aswell as the sony.

I'd like to use the Sony with the lights but dont know how to go about it as not having the sync socket.

How would i go about getting the two to work together? what do i need? Any help for this would be fantastic as i prefer to use my Sony and you sound like the right people to ask and point me in the right direction :D

Thanks in advance..

You could have a look at RF-602 radio triggers. I'm *fairly* sure they do one that works with Sony. If not, I know for sure there's hotshoe adapters out their for the Sonys that gives you a sync socket for cabled use.
