Hi,
First of I just want to say thanks to everyone here for helping out.

Right I have £600 to splash on a studio kit, I have a light meter already, i was looking at Lencarta smartflash kit with 3 heads and all you need to get started. I will be using it for family portraits, kids mainly as I'm having a baby in Dec but in the mean time I want to try out shooting models etc. Any info would be great.

Thanks.

If you have £600 why not go for this one HERE, which will give you more power than the smartflash should you want to expand a bit later on :)

What about a backdrop etc?! Is it worth buying it seperate?! Thanks

Yes i have the Elite Pro 300s, here are a few taken with them, however i had to do a lot of photoshop work on the background, due to the small space i'm working in, and lack of experience with studio lights, blown backgrounds etc etc,

And below is a before and after shot, so you get the idea of the photoshop work involved, when i took the these photos i only had one light on the background so the light was spread unevenly (not good) and one light for the subjects, since taking those i now have 2 lights for the background, so i'm hoping for a lot better on my next project this week, i'm fairly sure you could get just as good results with smartflash 200s as pro 300s in a small space, however when you want to move up a step, this is where the 300s would come into play, more power so can turn them up, move them back further etc etc, just my thoughts but i'm sure Garry could bear this out, or tell me i'm talking crap

Thanks for the photo's, I guess I have to think about this one, as I want 3 lights to start with. Think I might have to sell something then lol

Then why not go for the smartflash 200 3 head kit, but substitute one of the 200s for one 300 pro (Lencarta let you do this), then you have two 200s for your background and one 300 for your subject, if you need a bit of fill you could use a reflector for now, then a while down the line you can always buy another 300 or 600 pro to complete your set :)

The 200w Lencarta smartflash lights are pretty good and I would have no hesitation in recommending them but the suggestion of swapping one for an elitepro 300 is a good idea. A backdrop is definitely a very useful addition.

Would they do that?! I was thinking of getting a 2x 200 kit and buy the 300 on it's own, that's great news :) thanks for the info. I wonder how much difference between them?!

If, for example, you want to buy this SmartFlash 3 head kit with background but want to change one of the heads for an ElitePro 300, all you have to do is to PM me, telling me exactly what you want - I will then make up a kit for you on the website, which you can then buy.
