I bought the above recently whilst in the USA. It's proved itself absolutely brilliant and it's really nice and easy to stick in the bag all the time.

However, I'd like to get the ball head for it to add more flexibility and the quick release - screwing it in every time is a little tedious!

When I've looked at the price of the Joby ball head it seems rediculous money costing more than the pod itself. Are there any alternatives that will fit and work in the same way? Even better if there was a way to use a quick release plate that was also compatible with a tripod to save keep changing it at all although not sure if that's feasible?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
 
Any head should fit as it uses the larger screw that most tripods use. I'm looking at getting one of the manfroto RC2 ball heads for mine.
 
i got a universal jessops quick release to use when i was in vegas
i thought i would be able to pick up a joby ball head over there but nobody had one
it was a bit of a pain to get the gorillapod level so i would advise a ball head so that you can level up easier
