Gorillapod as flash stand

I saw one of these in a shop today and wonder if anyone uses or has used one as an off camera flashgun support while out and about. Looks to be a light and portable solution. However I suspect there will be drawbacks I haven't thought of.

works great for me, stick a cold-shoe on the top and it works fine - get one of the bigger 'pods though - they are more stable and stronger. Now just a stand easier - it allows you to wrap your flash to other items

I have done in the past. Most often for club work inside a packed dj booth where there is no chance of getting a lightstand in.
