GoPro's are popping up in all sorts of places and are becoming a handy "must have" in some people's kit.

I thought the point of a GoPro was for action filming, not really stills. It's videos we want to see :p

Hah, bit of both. The new ones take fantastic 11mp wide angle stills too.... And with the wifi backpack, you can now get a remote wireless shutter release too...
 
subscribed....done well, videos out of this wee thing are gorgeous, the stills don't look too bad either!
 
I too didn't know they shot still, thought it was just HD Video, got to go and investigate a bit more now.
 
Another thing I really enjoy about taking snaps with the gopro is that there is no way of knowing what the photo will come out like - just like the olden days of film!

The field of view is so wide you almost always get your subject in plus a whole bunch more.

Thanks - these were all created using the HD Hero which only does 5MP stills

The newer HD Hero2 has a new lens and does better videos and 11MP stills

There's a new rival [not sure how new] to the gopro for a lot cheaper. The liquid ego, it also does full HD video and stills. You can get an app for it to allow remote shutter and live view [for stills only] - anyone ever compared both? I'd like something like this ,but don't want to spend a whole heap. It would be basically for strapping to my mountain bike when I'm off road, heading out to photograph landscapes, that kind of thing. Just for personal use. I'd probably let the kids go wild with it too. Just chase one another about, see what they come up with. They're built to be tough.
