Apparently google just forgot to tell you until now: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/02/20/google_nest_secret_microphone/
IIRC this only applies in the US.
Nest Guard went on sale in the US last year and the company plans to launch it in Europe and Canada.
I use nest cameras and bought a new alarm just before xmas. The Nest alarm was not available in UK then. The article quoted a £99 price, so presumably it's already on sale here.
"The £99 Nest home alarm talks to Google's servers over the internet, offering home monitoring and alert functions. "

And yet there's nothing on the Nest UK website about this product. Two other links confirm it's not released yet in the UK:

Mark Wein was doing some modding on there. Im sure he will know how "Ratty" is.If the nest alarm was voice controlled then
I remember Honeyiscool for buying every valve vox amp he could find (or so it seemed) and kittens.I still think of HC as being on the wild frontier where you would rub shoulders with a bedroom guitarist on one side and a genuine guitar hero on the other. I'm a little worried about Ratae-Sean, because he was an ex-alcoholic, and it's unlike him to not be around, especially as a mod.
Sorry to hear about the Wolfgang. There's a side of me that says "flog 'em off if you don't use 'em" and another which would like them buried along with me. I don't have anything really precious, and traded my Heritage H150 for my D610, but some have a lot of sentimental value.
