Yes
I use AOL browser, would there be any benefits installing Google Chrome

Would GC replace AOL browser, used in conjunction with, or what.

I use chrome, Faster and cleaner interface than IE. Not sure what functions are better than AOL though.

Supurb browser. Much faster and far less glitchy than IE.

Its the only browser I use now.

Same here, haven't used IE for about a year now.

AFAIK, AOL Explorer is no longer in development. Looking at the Wiki page for it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AOL_Explorer) it has been superseded by a number of new versions.

Whilsty Chrome will do the same functions as AOLE, it will likely do them better (more compatible), quicker and more securely. +1 on Chrome as a replacement....

AOL? I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or beg for mercy.

Browsing with an etch-a-sketch from a burning sofa would be a more pleasant experience than AOL. If you've only ever used AOL, you're still stuck in an early 1990s version of the internet. You should see it now!

For the love of [insert chosen Deity], I beg you, ditch AOL, get a real ISP and use Chrome. Or Firefox 4/5.

I really can't think of a browser that wouldn't be a massive improvement over an aol branded version of ie.

But why just consider chrome? Look at all of them. Then install Safari ;)

IE 9 isnt too bad, FF4 was bloatware, not sure about as im now using chrome.

Why not just download it and try it for yourself, if you don't like it then un-install it.

You can do the same for
Firefox
Opera
Safari

All free, no cost to you at all.

Tried safari for a while. I quite liked it - apart from the fact it would crash daily :(

I don't recall ever having Safari crash on me. And it's used on six computers here - osx and xp.

Win 7 and only really used on this site. Was a build from mid last year (just before I swapped to Chrome). Would freeze and die at least once per day.

I would expect it to be rock solid on OSX.

My wife liked firefox, I swore by chrome, she tried it on my laptop, and switched straight away to chrome........enough said!!

Pete

Been using chrome since it first came out. Love it to bits. First thing I install on any new machine is chrome! Love searching in address bar, bookmark sync, and more. Total fan boi here :)

Ditto here...... works perfect everything and even better with all Google apps; mail, docs, picasa, blogger etc

I have to agree with the general opinion here...chrome is up there with firefox as the best browser.

Love the fact it updates itself to the latest version in the background..and the integrated search/address bar is a stroke of genius!

Get rid of it now! Burn it with fire!

Chrome/firefox is the way to go.

Wow does the AOL browser still work? I would suggest that you dont use it anymore as most sites these days dont support these kind of older browsers.

Chrome for me now, used Safari for a few years but when i switched to Snow Leopard some things started playing up a bit, same goes for others i work with. Firefox has some useful pluggins so i use that occasionally, but for normal browsing chrome gets the thumbs up...

personally i cant stand it, i have it installed to check compatibility on my website but thats about it.

memory wise, chrome uses the least followed by IE9 with FF trailing the rear (FF was the only browser to conciderably increase its memory usage while left idle for an hour).

the all look the same now anyway IE9, FF5 and Ch.

@ Neil. So out of interest, which is your preferred browser out of IE9, FF5 & Chrome?

Have you seen the absolutely brilliant "Inspect Element" menu item?

Load a page, right click on it and select Inspect Element. It brings up the source HTML alongside the computed style from the CSS sheets. You can hover over a line of HTML and it will show you how it has computed the boxes. If you look at the styles, it will tell you which line and file it has computed that element from and what it has overridden to do so. Sooo useful when you're trying to debug what's going on on your website....

Not sure if FF/Opera has this (couldn't find it in IE, but wouldn't expect it in there).

i use IE9 at home, IE9 at work and FF5 on the work laptop for personal browsing (just to split it out from work stuff)
I'm not trying to convert you, merely saying what a great debug tool it is (IMHO). Just try selecting Inspect Element on a right click on any web page....

was response to the post above, it obviously took me longer to type 1 line than you took to type 7 or 8 lol :)
Ooops... Sorry. I was in a rush this morning :D

Firefox has the Firebug plug-in which works similarly.
Love how you can see real-time adjustments to the code - incredibly useful!

Yes - that's pretty similar...

My preferred browsers now are chrome and opera. I no longer use firefox, well not since it updated to v4. Both chrome and opera are very fast, and a pleasure to use. Opera does have the inspect element so you can view exif if it is intact on a picture. My neighbour has aol, and god it's horrible isn't it. I installed opera for him and he uses it all the time, just set aol as your homepage if you have an email address with them.

Use Chrome at work and I really like it. So much better than IE in my experience (faster and crashes a lot less)

At home I use Safari on OSX. Prefer Safari overall I think but Chrome seems to work a bit better for me on Windows

I use Chrome and occasionally FF, but if you're using Chrome then i'd suggest using a derivative that isn't the 'official' branded Google Chome one, use Chromium or Chrome Plus or Iron or something else that doesn't collect information about you.

Although it may have changed now, I still can't get over the original Chrome T&Cs that basically stated they can use, publish, do whatever they like with anything submitted through their browser. Google it ( in your choice browser of course ;p ) it's quite intesting.

By the way, I don't read them for the fun of it, but part of my job at the time was to research rolling out in a corporate environment. Perhaps I'll check it out again and see what I'm missing!
