As title really, looking for a 'camcorder' (work colleague) thats simple to use and can be bought for between £200-£300

Purpose is to film new born baby.

All recommendations appreciated.

Should come with software to enable him to record footage onto a DVD.

Resolution/codec types really not important, user friendliness is!!!

Try JVC. I bought one for use at work. £130 from Currys. They do loads of different ones at all prices and with all different gizmos on them. Try their website.

Take a look at the Panasonic HX-WA03 such as the one available in white or black or orange. This is near enough baby proof and offers good holding ergonomics. It is splash proof and can be dropped so can get into all mad angles during playtime with the new born. It's picture quality is good enough 1080 60i or 30p @ 17mb AVCHD. The cheaper version is Panasonic HX-DC3EB-K which £142 Amazon but on Panasonic eBay refurb £89.99.

I've just used a Sony PJ220 - £200 and was impressed with it. Comes with a built in (although weak) projector which is a nice novelty. Doddle to use. Open the screen, it turns on, press the record button, it records. Quality seemed fine and 32X optical zoom and pretty small. About an hour and half constant recording.
