Hello all,

Im after an idea on how i can make some images look good on screen but when someone tries to print them out they look noticeably rubbish.
This is for obvious reasons; to stop people nicking my photos off a sample CD i give them (even though the watermark is all over it).

I have tried resizing the photo down to max edge of 2000px and having a dpi of 72, but this doesnt seem to have too much of an effect printing out 6x4.

Is there anything i can do ??

Turn them into an executable slideshow file using low res pics, I might be wrong but it would not be worth their while trying to get a couple of prints done ;)

What i have done is reduce them to 2000px, 72dpi, then saved them as '0' quality in PS making them from 5.3mb down to 100kb and TBH it doesnt look that bad. Id be happy with it if it didnt mean i spent money on it !!!!

I also provide a DVD slideshow, so could use your idea to provide one disc with a slideshow that can show on PC's aswell as DVD players.

Funnily enough ive been having a go with ProShow Gold tonight and i cant seem to get decent results.
Im using my original files (between 5mb and 10mb) and puting them in as a DVD but on my PC the result is pretty poor, not coming up half as good quality as if i were to put jpges on individually.

My photos are all 300dpi, min lenth on the shortest is at least 4000px and i have put a watermark on them using Mogrify.
Doesnt matter what i do (DVD HQ etc) the pics seem to be very poor quality

Is this when you play it in PSG or when you create the DVD output and then play it.

For the former, change your output resolution for the preview. It will be in PSG options.

For the latter, DVD PAL resolution is 720 x 576. I presume your monitor has a higher resolution. Try the DVD in a DVD player on your TV, it will look better.
