My fathers PC went pop this week , the PSU must have glitched & it took out the DVD drive & mouse/keyboard ports. So I bought an nice shiny Wireless keyboard/mouse from Tescos .

Unpacked it , looked at the instructions........

Install software before connecting devices :cuckoo: , how do you do that without a ********* keyboard and mouse :bang: :bang:

just chuck em in! windows will find the drivers most times anyway, then you can install the proper ones if you want to...

Had a very simlar 'kin problem!
Have you tried booting the computer outta the window? :D
Sorry I meant boot it in safe mode?
( Restart the computer and keep tapping F8 in case you don't know)
and use the < arrow keys > & "return" key to navigate.
Might get you outta trouble.
When you restart the SOB it will boot back in normal mode

Plug & Play - Now was that term Microsoft's gift to the mankind

I think you mean "Poke & Hope". :nono:

Borrowed the USB keyboard/mouse from the kids PC & installed the bloatware & it all works .

Just rather daft that you've got to have a mouse/keyboard before you can install a mouse/keyboard

that is indeed a bit wrong, but MS wouldnt be MS if it worked first time would it!

What about the old error message "No keyboard attached press F1 to continue":)

It would have worked without the drivers I think. Drivers for a keyboard and mouse are generally only needed for any special function keys.

Was it a microsoft keyboard and mouse?
