Anybody reccommend a good book as above?
I bought a book that explains how to use my camera and also gives some good basic photography tips...would be interested in another book to teach me further:thinking:

Hi nicknack, and welcome to TP.

It depends what it is you want to look at really.

Many would recommend 'Understanding Exposure' by Bryan Peterson as a good reference book to understand more about light and how your subject matter can effect how you should expose your shots.

The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freemen is quite good for compositional tips and explanations as to why certain shots are framed the way they are.

Or there is TP itself. We're a friendly bunch and there is a vast amount of knowledge on the forums and in the various threads, so use the search facility if there is something in particular you want to read up on and you are bound to find some threads with good advice in them

'Understanding Exposure' by Bryan Peterson..........ordered:clap:

Great book...a few pennies have sure dropped already:thumbs:

explanations and metaphors are easily understood:)

There is also a magazine book thing called Digital camera skills, you can get it from WHsmiths for around £10, I loved mine when I first got my dslr. It has lots of lessons and tips and is nice and clear. :-)

Good choice of book :) really made technical 'stuff' make sense for me. I have also learned a lot from magazines, (pratical photography & Digital SLR) and you tube. Good luck :)

All the Michael Freeman books are excellent. There's also Tom Ang.

Another vote for Bryan Peterson Understanding Exposure. Great book. Also, the Scott Kelby books are great to read too.

All good advice above  however, don't forget YouTube. If after reading up on some aspect of photography you are still unsure try searching it on YouTube.

There are hundreds of short tutorials to help you along.
