I think it's about time I invested in a flash but I don't have any idea where to start really. I shoot using a Canon 40d and would like something thatis suitable for a beginner but will see me through for a little while until I get used to flash photography and how it all works (this is something we will be covering in my evening course).

So in a nutshell I would like something thats easy to use, not too expensive and gives good results with my camera body and recommendations on suitable options and any tips on the best place to buy would be great.

Am going to see what santa brings as I've been a good girl this year :)

Thanking you in advance.

Canon 430EXII is probably favourite. Nissin, Sigma or Metz if you need to save a bit.

Go for a 430ex, if you are on a tight budget.
I bought mine for £105 and am getting to love it.
Its such a pleasure to start learning to use it.
Happy flashing;)

Yep i was happy with the results from my 430 ex mk2. I think they're about £180 new from Kerso.
