I just turned 38 & I'm a stay at home mommy to one boy age 12 & one girl age 11.



Since last year, I have developed a hobby of taking pictures with my phone!



My hobby of photos I have captured so far, can be seen here (www.instagram.com/photosbytopaz87)



With my hobby, I have decided to make a goal for 2026. I want to enter one of my photos (not sure yet) to the Mariposa County fair.



I have so far been reaching out to those who are way advanced than me, to get wisdom from them! And I want them & you (whose reading this)to check out my work and give me the real, cold hearted truth! None of this walk on egg shells, sugar coat, not wanting to hurt my feelings!



Give it to me real! Or else how will I learn?

Hi Topaz and welcome to TP

I have had a look at your IG page and there are some that caught my attention more than others (as in, other than a record shot......what were you trying to "show"?)

In regard to getting constructive criticism, you should post any specific images on one of the sub-fora here at TP asking for the critique.

IMO do bear in mind that if you explain your (artistic?) intent for and/or about the image that would likely garner more focused(no pun intended) constructive replies.

Edit~ for example this one caught my attention but what did you have in mind, in other words what was your intent when you framed it on the phone?

Where in California. If you're looking at entering something in Mariposa county then I guess you're in reach of Yosemite or are you more the other side of Mariposa - Merced region. I think i'd echo Box Brownie with the what are you trying to show. I always like the phrase Shoot with purpose".

Mariposa itself has a very old west feel to it so opportunity for some great photos.
