Got a dilemma, I will be buying a new body for wildlife/ birds in flight and would like to know would you guys go with a good crop ie d7200 or a FF like the d610?
I know I'll lose reach on the FF but will the image be so much clearer that I could crop and it would be just as good if needed? This body will do all sorts but mostly wildlife.
Thanks

D7200! Enough said!

Faster..... Big buffer quicker AF!

D500 is out of my price range if not that would be in there

If I was into bif or planes I'd go back to it
Got a mate who pro wedding tog and swears by his d7200 for everything he shoots! It's better than d600 for dynamic range too

The D500 excels at speed and superb AF/tracking but the D7200 is no slouch and is an excellent wildlife camera with a few more pixels to crop if you need to :)

D7200 was on the top of my list for the money, thanks everyone

The largest sensor you can fill, with the highest resolution... but if the higher resolution comes at a cost of frame rate/buffer/etc, then I wouldn't make it a priority.

Trouble with going full frame is needing bigger lenses! 70-2002.8 is 300mm on dx! 150-500 is 225-750mm on a d7200 would be great!

For wildlife and bif good AF is very important. Good crop cameras like the D7200 or D500 tend to have better AF than basic FF cameras such as the D610, selling for a similar price. Unless you get a top of the range like D4 or D5, a crop is probably the answer for you.

d7200 is a great body for wildlife, as for your big zoom, Tamron are bringing out a new 150-600, to confuse the mix.
I have the tamron 1st gen and it's a great lens, even compared to my Nikon 300mm with 1.4 tc

Can you stretch to a D750? Cracking camera, and with the 600mm and some decent fieldcraft you'll have a very good combo.

IQ will be much better than the D7200 and give you far superior results in low light.

I only have a 500mm and 1.4x converter on full frame, and do Ok with some prior planning.

I can probably get a d750 second hand if one came up the right price.

Id be interested to read a D500 vs D750 review as I could do either way.....

There are a few such comparisons on YouTube, but be sure to have plenty of salt handy as you will need a very large pinch with some of them.

For wildlife, I would say that the number one concern is typically reach. A such, an excellent crop sensor such as those you have mentioned would serve you pretty well, as you are afforded a 50% (60% on Canon) longer effective focal length than on FF.
