Yes
Our pond wasn't right so this weekend I set about sorting it out.
I found there was a tear in the liner just above water-level and of course just where the waterfall is - so everything had to come out.
I lifted to damaged part of the liner, did away with the sump and fitted a presurised filter.
Rebuilt the water falls. Got it all back together about 6:30 tonight.
I was checking the flows and, I couldn't belive it, about three feet in front of me a Goldcrest decided to have a bath he hopped in and out of the water and came within a couple of feet - and of course no camera :bang:
He stayed for 3 or 4 minutes then flew off...it was really nice having this close encounter though, especially as it was my first view of this tiny bird :)

I thought, i only have that luck.. :D mark
I nearly always have my camera to hand – mind you my hands and arms were covered in mud at this time (real camouflage) so would I have grabbed my camera – yep :)

Hopefully its a clean freak and will be back regularly from now....
Finger Crossed – heard him today but could see him anywhere apparently they like the tops of conifers hanging under the branches and trees covered in ivy – great :)

And it came back today...

I went out three times today to look for my little Goldcrest – no luck until 17:49.
They are nippy and jittery hopping between the tree, the rocks and the waterfall “ponds”.

Taken with Sigma 150-500@500mm (AP) F8, Auto ISO, Hand held OS=1

I had real problems getting the camera to focus and the DoF is pretty shallow even at F8. Plus they are all hand held hopefully I can have another go with a tripod at the weekend.

C&C Welcome

Thanks Spike - Yep but he had his bath round the other side of the rock - bit shy maybe :)
I have also borrowed a spare body to check if it is the body or lens with the AF problem ... probably me

your a lucky man only seen one once for a few seconds. no 4 looks like he's been licked by a cow :-:

Thanks pmaccyd, this was my first and we have lived in the same house for over 25years :)

Hi
I am pleased it turned up for you - well worth the wait

Regards

Mike

Thanks Mike - haven't seen her for a few days maybe just passing through?

There are alot of goldcrests where i live in glasgow, well i think they are goldcrests. They are really quick. Where i live there are tens of thousands of trees 60/70 feet tall and i see them quite often in mid air, but finding them hiding in the trees is tricky.

Hi Omar - Yes definitely nippy - my little one seems to have done a runner - camera shy maybe :)
May be I will see some more when I come to Scotland later in the year.

Sorry for the delay been off line for a while.
