Going to venture to the city on saturday with both my cameras, anyone recommend some good places other than the norm? (Parliament, Eye, Palace) ect. Want to try something different.

It's really quiet (by London standards) down the old City at weekends, which in itself makes it a good option. I'd be heading around Smithfield, St Barts, Postmans Park, Leadenhall, the Guildhall, Spitalfields (could drop in the Ten Bells for a pint, as Jack the Ripper did).

That whole area has a pic opportunity every 10 yards IMO.

Loads of ideas around that area... and that's real London history.:)

Nick's suggestion is great for buildings, architecture, people, inside old churches, and a lot more. Some other great places for photography are the South Bank (between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge), especially by the Royal Festival Hall which has a celebration of the Festival of Britain going on at the moment; Covent Garden market for the shops, stalls, people, and street performers; Trafalgar Square if you're into candid people shots - the place is full of tourists all taking pictures of everything and everyone so they don't mind you pointing your camera their way.

Then there's Brick Lane on a Sunday afternoon. It's a mile or so of market selling all kinds of things. You could go there and come back with a couple of hundred photos easily. It's not far from Spitalfields market which is indoors and much smaller but worth including on a Brick Lane visit.

Another good Sunday visit is Portobello Road in the Notting Hill area. It's an antiques market that's probably about as long as Brick Lane.

There are also lots of photos to be had on the walk through the central London parks: St James's Park, Green Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens - all in a line with just a road to cross between each of them. And Holland Park isn't far from Kensington Gardens, and you'll probably see peacocks there.

And Camden is worth a visit for the shops and markets, Camden Lock and the Stables market, then a walk along the Regents Canal to Regents Park for the lake, flowers and people.

Hampstead Heath and Kenwood are great for nature shots: birds, the odd animal, trees, lakes, landscapes, etc.

I usually recommend Greenwich - 30 minutes or so by train from central London - but they're rebuilding large parts of it at the moment so a lot of it is ugly and you can't get to the riverside all that easily. But the small indoor market is worth a look as is Greenwich Park.

I could probably think of a few more ideas if it wasn't after 12:30 at night :)
