Well after my little problem with aperture and duplicated images that were not true duplicates just ghosts in the system I have deleted my aperture library and re-installed aperture....

Now I have the mind numbing task of re-importing all my images from the past 7 years.

I have done three years this morning and whilst doing this I have been re-tagging the images with new keywords. It has also given me the chance to rethink my folder system within Aperture.

SO not a bad thing just daunting when you see all the images. Plus it means I have lost all my edit and I will have to over time re-do everyone.

That said I so have a vault of the previous library I just need to figure a way of access that with out corrupting my new library. That way I would be able to review my edits.

Well I did not have anything to do this week apart from RIAT.......

I feel your pain. I haven't even got started on tagging my photography photos.

I also plan to import my family photos into lightroom into a separate database. 10k + worth of photos there...Should be fun!
 
My Lightroom is organised by year - each year has a different catalogue. I found that one big catalogue kept freezing up on me. I'm slowly going through the old pics, tagging, keywording etc, and deleting crappy pics, but I feel your pain :)
 
Coffee is the answer, strong and black. Oh and some good tunes of course. Good luck with it, on the bright side when it's done you'll have a nice new tagged library. :)
 
ive been working for a photographer that is over 60, has decades of photos including scans from trans. Her filing system is non existent and im trying to convince her that learning out to use lightroom is the best thing.

Also trying to organise her stuff which is almost impossible, I try to import images into lightroom and it counts files up and up for hours.
