Hi All, I've been enjoying learning to use my Godox Tt685c. For OCF I've been triggering it optically using the pop up on my 60d. That;'s fine but I'm trying to work out what I need for radio wireless firing. If I put an X1T-C transmitter in the camera hotshoe I'm assuming that will fire the tt685 wirelessly, but do I need an X1R-C receiver under the flash too? or does it contain a receiver within already?

Secondly will a receiver attached to an older speedlight like a 430 EX fire that flash on receipt of a signal from the transmitter (or the tt685 for that matter) thus allowing multiple flash set ups

Sorry if this is a bit simplistic, but then, so am I  Thanks in advance for the help

The TT685 has a radio receiver built in, so that can be triggered directly from an X1T.

What Godox are lacking (somewhat strangely) from their line-up is a general receiver - they have them either built in, or dedicated ones for their older studio lights (which use a USB connector, so no use for general speedlights).

If you don't need TTL then you could use a simple optical slave trigger for the 430EX, but for multiple TTL fired from an X1T you need to be using only compatible Godox (or rebranded Godox) units.

Im not sure I understand you correctly but...

But as said all thats needed is the X1C transmitter (or another TT685, TT350 or wing 860II)

The X1R can be used to trigger general lights either via cable or in "single pin" mode. So they are suitable for any speedlight in manual mode.

I see the problem now.
Since I use Sony, I usually look at the Sony version of things for 'general' info - and in Sony mount they (currently) only have the X1T, not the X1R.
You only see the X1C and X1N receivers when you go into the produce details for the triggers.

To revise what I said to the OP, if you had an X1C-T, it would trigger your TT685, and you could then add an X1C-R to trigger your 480EX (with full TTL).

Note; It may well be cheaper to get the transmitter & extra receiver as a pair, rather than individually.

Apologies for failing to spot the receivers earlier, hopefully they will bring out Sony versions soon!
