Glidecam & focusing?

Hi.

I'm not particularly looking at buying one at the moment. Just interested how they work in DSLRs. The majority of SLRS dont auto focus very well so how do you manually focus while moving one of these things on a glidecam?

Just interested to se how people get results like this without loosng focus?
 
I only watched the first 30 seconds but it's all filmed on wide angle lenses at a smallish aperture so everything is in focus regardless of what is in the frame.
 
Wide angles and small aperture....


But, in the 'real' world, it's done with a remote follow focus unit, which is a motor that can turn the focus ring - operated by remote control by a camera assistant called a focus puller.
 
haha, makes stills look cheap eh? :P

edit: just watched the video. Pretty sure that there was no focus pulling involved whatsoever, it was all just shot wide and at > f8.
