It looks like I'll be spending 7 days in each of these locations during the last two weeks of July this year.
Does anyone have any any tips or pointers with anywhere to go within say an hours driving for some good wildlife locations?

Cheers

Glenmore you have loads... all the usual "native" animals as well as a herd of reindeer at the Reindeer centre. Glenmore is probably a better location than Aviemore itself, so a good choice. If you're venturing up onto the Cairngorms themselves you should see plenty of real wildlife in their natural habitat (and summer coats).

Loch Lomond is probably a bit more variable TBH. A trip to Blair Drummond safari park near Stirling (kind of between both but closer to LL) is always an option if you want to guarantee capture of captive animals. At Balloch I think there's still a bird of prey centre? That's at the southern tip of the loch.

Hi Bigvin,
Just rushing out the door, but I live in Aviemore and can point you in the right direction for a few species around the area, I have a couple of Osprey Photographic hides, but if you are looking for other species I can help you out by telling you the right areas to go.
Thanks Gordon.

Thanks Gordon.

I had planned on contacting you closer to the time about your Osprey hides.
My wife would also like watch the osprey's fishing but is not a tog. Do you accommodate non photographers?

Hi Bigvin,
Hope to have a viewing hide as well as a new Photography hide done by the end of March and before the Ospreys return, I now have private access to forest area that has too many species to list, would be happy if I could get close to half of them, also building a brand new Osprey fishing and perching area at a new Loch I have for afternoons and early evenings, will know by the first week in April how it goes, but I need to also build these before the birds are back, I always watch wildlife for a year before I set up the hides and watched Ospreys fishing this area last year without me stocking it with the right size of fish.
I am just in the door and rushing out again, but I will send you a PM on other species and where to go, even if you decide not to do an Osprey session, I can give you some pointers where you and your wife can get some wildlife up close.
Glenmore is a nice place to stay but really not that great for wildlife, I am up there photographing Crested Tits right now, and hoped to go look at a Capercaillie site, but its Husky dog racing weekend in Glenmore forest...... crazy busy and hundreds of lovely barking dogs.
Will send you a PM with some places and directions.
Thanks Gordon.

Once again thanks Gordon.

I'll look forward to receiving whatever information you can provide for the area.
Glenmore looked to be a good base and pretty central to travel out on day trips. Just bought a caravan so this is going to be the first of many trips to Scotland, at least once a year.
Will most probably take a trip to your Osprey site cos the images on your website are exactly what I'm after.

Thanks Lee

Thanks very much lads.

Keep the suggestions coming, the more information the better. :)
