I’m going to Glastonbury in a couple of weeks and will be taking my gear along with me to get some photos of friends, bands and whatever goes on. I’m wondering how you guys would approach taking photos at a festival, if you were doing it in a journalistic manner. What thought process would you go through in order to document the festival?
I’m thinking – very loosely and very briefly – around taking photos of people arriving and setting up, the days before the music hits – people idly sitting around, then on the Friday when the music starts bands, performers, food stalls, holistic therapy etc. etc.
How would you guys approach something like Glastonbury in terms of thought process? How would you approach it from the stand point of it being a festival, potentially very dusty (wishful thinking perhaps :p) and any other concerns it might bring?

Aside from that, I am hoping there will be no issues in taking my kit (D800 with the ‘holy trinity’ and primes) in terms of breaking rules and regs - I've researched and there appears to be nothing in place.

Hope the location of this thread and content is appropriate.

A lot of gig tickets have a note that says you can't use "professional-style" cameras, which I believe means cameras with a detachable lens. I took my old Pentax film camera and 135mm lens to Reading Festival in the eighties and had no trouble, but I think they were looking for glass bottles (potential weapons) rather than anything else. Can't help on the rest, way too well-thought-out for me.
